Hi!
I am Lars Francke working from Hamburg, Germany as a freelancer in the software development world.
My main interests and strengths lie in the design of scalable systems with the HStack (Hadoop, HBase, Hive, …). I am also very passionate about the OpenStreetMap project and I’ve got a small site called OSMdoc
I have a wide range of experience in different languages and platforms, including Java, Python, Scala and others and I’m always eager for opportunities to learn more and new stuff. Here are a few things I’m good at:
- Java in general. I also know my way around a profiler and have done work to tune Garbage Collectors etc. This is always fun!
- The world of tools in the Java ecosystem that is common in todays world: Maven (I’ve done a lot of work on porting HBase to Maven together with Paul Smith and KayKay), Nexus, Hudson, Sonar, Spring, Hibernate, etc. all the usual suspects.
- I’ve also had the opportunity to work with quite a few different databases but my main strengths are in PostgreSQL and HBase. I’ve also worked with MongoDB, CouchDB, Redis and others.
- As mentioned before I work with Hadoop, HBase, Solr and Lucene as well as other tools from that area to do data analysis and storage.
- OpenStreetMap!
I’d love to talk to you so feel free to contact me at lars.francke@gmail.com. As I mentioned before: I’m also available for freelance work.
P.S.: I can also be found on IRC (Freenode and OFTC) as lfrancke.
